The polls are out and it looks like things went pretty much as expected.  Alabama is still leads the pack.  Ohio State is still second and Bosie State is a distant third.  Oregon State dropped out of the poll this is not a surprise after the way that Boise dispatched them last night in a prime time game.  Boise is showing that they are for real.  Many people were saying that the game against Oregon State would be the one to get them.  Boise did not play there best game as they racked up the penalty yard.  It hardly seemed to matter.  They out classed the Beavers and easily won.  Now the biggest game on the Blue Field crusaders is November 26th show down with Nevada.  Nevada is ranked for the first time in 62 years.  It is a strong possability that both teams will be undefeated when they meet.  What a fun game that will be.

For some reason Oregon jumped TCU to the 4th spot.  That won’t last long since they play Stanford next week.  Stanford moved up 7 places to crack the top ten.  Why they were ranked so low to start the season I am not sure.   Next week after beating Oregon they will be the top ranked PAC 10 team.

Six Big Ten teams are ranked.  Ohio State(2), Wisconsin (11), Iowa (17), Michigan(20), Penn State(22), Michigan State(24).  If you count Nebraska(6) that would make 7 out of 12 teams ranked.  Some will drop out once the Big Ten Season starts next week but I still look for at least 5 teams to be in the top 25 at the end of the season.

The SEC has 5 teams in the top 25.  Alabama(1) of course leads all of football and grabbed 57 of a possible 60 first place votes, Ohio State(2), Boise State(1) grabbed the other 3 votes.  The other SEC teams in the poll are Florida(7), Auburn(10), LSU(12), Arkansas(15) and South Carolina(19).  With the SEC conference getting into full swing next week as well watch for those teams to shake up there rankings.   With the SEC bias and ESPN always telling us how great the SEC is they don’t seem to drop as far as teams in other leagues when they loss.

As interesting as all these early polls are they really don’t mean a lot.  The next two to three weeks will tell us a lot about how the season is going to go.  If Alabama and Ohio State win out there will be no doubt that they will play for the BCS championship.  I look for Alabama to lose and then the question will be can Boise state keep the spot and not get jumped by a big conference team.
