Michigan State lays an Egg.  Not quite but almost.  They avoided a Goose Egg with a late meaningless touchdown.  With Kirk Cousins forgetting what team he was playing for it made things very difficult for Michigan State to get anything going.  Iowa scored the first 37 points of the game actually their first touchdown would have been enough with the way the Spartans were playing today.  The team that I thought was a team of destiny turned out to be quite mortal and left the Big 10 wide open.  It is possible that there could be a three way tie for the Big 10 Champion this year.

In my second pick I fared much better.  Nebraska took care of Missouri.  They did it much easier than I thought they would.  Nebraska established themselves as the team to beat in the final year of the Big 12.  They blew out of the gates with 24 points in the first half.  More than enough to breeze past Missouri.  With the win in the second game that gives me a 1 – 1 record for this week bringing my record for the year to 12 – 5.

We lost two unbeaten teams this week.  You would think that would make things more clear in the BCS picture.  As I am writing this USC is ahead of Oregon so it is possible that we we lose another unbeaten.  If that happens it will make things a bigger mess.  Unless you are a fan of Boise State and TCU then when Auburn falls to Alabama all you would need is who ever Alabama plays in the SEC Championship game to beat the Tide and you end up with a rematch of last years Sugar Bowl only this time it would be for the Crystal football.

UPDATE – in the time that it took me to finish writing this and go back and check the score of the USC Oregon game Oregon scored again and is ahead 36 – 32 but there is a lot of time left in the game so who knows where this one will end up.
