Kevin DurantKevin Durant has made his choice.  It is the Golden State Warriors.   Can you say the rich get richer?  The pun there is intended.  And if you don’t get it then never mind…   I am pretty sure that Durant had made his mind up right after game 7 of the western conference finals.   It is a good choice for him.  The Warriors are a strong team. The Warriors key players are signed for a few years.  There is a window where those players will be in their prime.  It does seem like the Warriors will be a force for the next few years.

Easy way out?  I don’t think so

Many of the talking heads at some of the sports networks want to you to believe that Kevin Durant took the easy way out.   I am not exactly sure that that is supposed to mean.  They are saying how could he go to the team that put him and his old team out of the playoffs.  In the olden days this kind of move would never happen…  It used to be in the past these types of moves were controlled by the management of the team.

Seems like in this era of free agency the players have at least some control over where they go to play.   I really don’t see any problem with this.  It may upset some fans they will say the player should be for the team.  Really?  Why is that.   It is their job.  For 99.9% of the players the team that they play for is not necessarily the team they have a passion for.  The fans have trouble removing the attachment to the team part.  That is fine yell all you want.  They call them fans for a reason.

Durant going to the Warriors by no means guarantees that they will win the championship.  Because of this it does give them a great opportunity to win a championship if not several.  They still have to play the games.

Seems like if you are going to pound into the heads of athletes that the only thing that counts is championships.  You can’t get mad at them for making the moves that give them the best chance to win.
