After the Weekend Vol 1 Issue 4

After the WeekendThe NFL once again shows that it is more interested in being able to do what it wants than to just move on.  I really have a very difficult time understanding why Deflate Gate was so important to them.  They want to tell you that it is about the integrity of the game but really when you look at the facts it is very hard to come to that conclusion.  It does not even matter anymore if Tom Brady tampered with the balls.  Either directly or indirectly.

The way that the NFL has gone after Brady and the Patriots is confusing to me.  It comes off as very petty and spiteful.  Hey NFL Owners if you are that jealous of the Patriots.  I have a solution for you GET BETTER.  I mean really if you are that upset about the Patriots winning so much then do something about it.   Imposing fines and suspensions is not the solution.  Do your jobs better and beat them.

The  NFL Draft

The draft is always a very interesting week.  All this planning all these mock drafts.  All the craziness that surrounds the picking of players.  How did all the teams do?  Who knows.  Really it is pointless to assign grades to each teams draft at this point.  It is kind of like doing a poll for the 2016 season in 2015.  A team that is assigned an A by the “analysts” today could turn out to be an F after few years.  Past performance in College is no indicator of performance in the NFL.    I have never checked the stats but I am sure it is not a good indicator.  Going back to Brady.  Not great in college but turned that potential into an amazing result.  On the other end how about Trent Richardson.  Fantastic College career.  Massive bust in the NFL.    How did each team do?  At this point they all think that they got the pieces that they needed.

Some teams did some confusing things but that does not mean that they actually had a bad draft.  If the Jets want to field a team of Quarterbacks then they had a fantastic draft.  If it was 1975 then the Cowboys had an amazing draft…  Just saying while I think that Elliott is going to be a really great player in the NFL picking him at number 4 and then cheering like you got the steal of the draft is a bit strange.  Especially since most other teams were not going to take him in the top 10 and the Cowboys could have traded back if they found a willing partner and still got him.

Curry Say what

It does not look like the Warriors are going to need Curry till the next round of the playoffs.  Portland had nothing for them.  Even if Curry is ready to come back I would not play him much if at all in this round.  They are going to need him at full strength in the next round of the playoffs if they are going to make it back to the final.    At this point there is not much doubt that the West will come down to the Warriors vs Spurs and the East will come down to the Cavaliers vs a team that they will beat.   Not much else to say here.  The final will be very interesting.

Crash and Burn

Once again NASCAR was just a crash fest.   Is that really what people want to see?  Maybe or I guess the ratings seem to say other wise but NASCAR is just watching it happen anyway.  Maybe they are shooting to be a fringe sport with really rabid fans and not much with the non traditional fans.  At this point it looks more like the WWE but in cars.  Hey if that is what people want to see then more power to them and race on.  For me it is getting very annoying.  I quit watching before the end of the race.  Talladega is usually one for the more exciting races of the season.   For me at least this year it was a snooze crash fest.  The ratings are not in yet so maybe it is just me.  Very possibly it is just me that is not interested in the way NASCAR is going.

Where are you?

The main theme of the NHL on NBC.  It takes me more time to find the game then it does for them to play the game…  Stop it NBC or just don’t bid on it next time so a network that cares can pick it up.

Nothing interesting in the entertainment world this past week.  Move along.
