The first BCS rankings are out and Oklahoma is number one. Six times in the 12 years of the BCS the team ranked number one to start the poll has made it to the championship game winning the whole thing twice. After seeing the first poll it does not set up well if you are a Boise State fan. They are third in the first poll. With their strength of schedule and Nevada losing to Hawaii this past weekend things do not point to Boise being able to move up in the rankings. For Boise to move up they will need a number of teams to lose, both above and below them in the poll.

Other than Oklahoma being first a team that is in a good spot is Michigan State. Sitting at seventh puts them in a position to move into one of the top two spots if they win out. Since the Spartans do not have to play Ohio State this year they have an easier road while still playing some ranked teams to help move them up. The Spartans biggest test to come will be against Iowa.

For the first time in a few years there is a chance that there will be no SEC team in the final game of the year. Auburn is the highest ranked SEC team sitting fourth. They will not have an easy road still having to play Alabama and then an SEC championship game if they get to it.

There is a very good chance that this year there will be several undefeated teams theta do not get the chance to play for the BCS title.
