College Football PlayoffCollege Football Playoff 2019 Week One.  The teams have been announced and the debate has begun.  Ohio State is on top followed by LSU, Alabama and Penn State.  Is this the way the playoff committee really sees this?  Maybe who knows.  It really does not really matter.  It is still way to early in the season to be doing this poll.  The only reason to do this is to create a show about it and to hype up the playoff.  When you do unexpected things with the ranking you are assured that people will lose their minds.  That is fine.  This is for entertainment value only.  Face it at this point in the season it really does not matter who they have at one or who they have at 20.  The whole things is subjective and can change at the whim of the the College Football Playoff Committee.

I hear a lot of people saying that the poll put out by the selection committee really matters at this point.  Where a team is placed will make a difference on where a team will end up.  It really does not.  If we were still dealing with the computer polls and then polls like the AP where the people voting are probably just going off the spot a team was in last week then I would say yes you are correct.

No Stephen A. Smith Clemson getting placed at fifth is not a travesty.  Placing Clemson was designed to do exactly what it did.  It got you to rant about something that does not matter in any way.  The truth is that this week Alabama plays LSU and in a few weeks Ohio State plays Penn State.  This means that two of the teams placed “ahead” of Clemson are assured of losing.  As long as Clemson keeps winning the way they have the last few weeks the committee is going to put them in the four that make the playoff.

Other interesting games for the playoff this week are going to be Penn State at Minnesota and Baylor at TCU.  If Penn State wins then we have the big match up with Ohio State in a few weeks.  If Minnesota wins then the B1G needs Minnesota to win out and be Ohio State to win out to have two undefeated teams in the B1G championship game.  If the Big 12 is going to get a team in they need Baylor to win out.  While TCU is not great this year they have been a big rivalry game for Baylor.

Of course the biggest game will be the LSU Alabama game.  If this is a close game and the chips fall right there could still be two SEC teams that make the College Football Playoff.  If this game is a blow out then that chances of that are really slim.  With the way the B1G finishes out I see almost no change of them getting a team in.

If will be fun to see how this weekends games go and then see the fall out in the College Football Championship reveal show next week.  Here is to some fun chaos.
