The Ohio State University has left no doubt that winning is not everything.  It is the only thing.   The problem is not the players or what the players may or may not have done.  The problem is not that the tattoo artist was being investigated for selling drugs.  The problem is not that the player sold items that most of us would consider items that we would want to keep for our entire lives and pass down to our kids.  It goes deeper than that.  Much deeper, and it is a huge problem.

I am sure that Ohio State is not the only school that stuff – bad stuff – happens at.  I am sure that rule breaking happens at almost every major college football program.  It has been shown that rule breaking is the norm in College sports.  Most of the top programs would not be able to stay strong though the years if they do not cheat.  It is the system that the NCAA has created and the system that the University’s live with and compete in.  That does not make it right it just makes it the way that it is.

The difference with what Ohio State did compared to the other Universities out there is that they have a Coach who said that honesty is everything.  If you are not honest then you have nothing.  What kind of president has been set not just for the Athletes at Ohio State but for the whole of College sports.  Ohio State was very clear though the years that they were above the board.  They were winning and following the rules and they had the right to look down on other programs because of the way they ran their program.

As it turns out they are not any better than the other programs.  When Ohio State had the opportunity to show they were following the rules to the best of their ability they said they were scared and did not know where to turn.  If the coach is saying that then what are the player to think.  Who are they to turn to?  I guess they should just say they are scared and hope no one finds out.
