College Game Day – Inspired By Bear.   Wish I had thought of this sooner.  As I watch College GameDay on ESPN I have always though that Bear had one of the best jobs in the world.  He gets to sit just off set in his own little location and make some obscure picks.  I am not sure how he got this job or what is back story is.  I do know that I would love to have his job.  Since I can’t I am going to do my own version.  I am going to pick A game I think is interesting.  A game that could impact the rest of the season and an upset game that no one had though about.

Impact Game

Michigan State At Ohio State

This is a game that if things go as they are expected should not be that close.  The issue here for Ohio State is that some how Michigan State has been able to upset Ohio State at key times.  At least three times the difference between Ohio State playing for a National Championship and being on the outside looking in was because Michigan State took them out. Chances are slim that it will happen again this year.

The key in this game will be the MSU defense against the OSU offense.  Michigan State is one of the top defenses in the country.  Ohio State is putting up some amazing numbers on Offense.  The MSU defense should be able to stack up against the OSU offense pretty well.  At least for the first half.  The problem will be that the MSU offense is very inconsistent and will not be able to say on the field.  Expect a lot of three and outs. This will lead to the defense getting tired and the Ohio State offense will pull away.

The impact of this game will all be about Ohio State Style points.  The Committee always wants to say that margin of victory is not taken into account.  I just don’t believe them.  I am sure it is taken into account depending on the opponent.  If Ohio State can put up some big numbers against Michigan State this will go a long way to people looking at Ohio State as the top team in the country.

Interesting Game

Auburn At Florida

The thing that makes this a very interesting game is that these two teams have a lot of history.  Due to conference expansions that have happened Auburn and Florida do not play as much as they used to.  This is the first time these schools are going to play since 2011.  That is way to long a break for these teams to have not played.  Both teams are undefeated.  They are also on an up swing.  In this case I do think that Auburn is the better teams and the polls have it correct by having Auburn ranked higher.

I do think that both of these teams are playing for second in their division.  It really does not matter in the long run here since I am pretty sure that Florida can not beat Georgia and Auburn will lose to Alabama or LSU or possibly both.

This game features two first year quarterbacks.  It will come down to which one can stand up to the pressure being put on them.  The Over under on this game is 48.5  If I were a gambler I would take the under.  I see this being a defensive battle.

Upset Game

Texas At West Virginia

Texas has show a propensity to lose a game they really should not lose.  Look at the last two years when they lost to Maryland.  West Virginia is a much better team than those Maryland teams the last two years.  Texas is having a decent season so far.  Their only loss coming to LSU in week two.  Even though the score was close the game really was not that close.  LSU was pretty much in control the whole game.  West Virginia lost to Missouri in week two. It was not a close game.   West Virginia is 3 – 1 but the teams they have beaten are not that great.  This is what should make Texas scared.

West Virginia is an okay team.  Texas is a decent team but not a great team.  They are on the cusp of getting back to being a great team.  Texas is in a similar situation as West Virginia.  The only good team they have played this year they have lost to.  Texas also plays Oklahoma next week.  It could be very difficult for them to stay focused on this week and not look forward to next week.  Many times this is the type of situation that leads to a huge let down.
