Chiefs storm back in a crazy series of events.  it was not the biggest comeback ever but it happened really quickly.  The Packers rolled out to an early lead.  Tired to give it away but then held on to win against the Seahawks.  The Sunday games were pretty interesting even if the results were pretty much the way most people thought they were going to go.  The Chiefs and Packers were both favorites to win.  They both got there is very different ways.

Chiefs 51 Texans 31

Less then five minutes into the second quarter the Texans were up 24 – 0.  The strange thing is I was thinking there is a long way to go in this game.  Not wow the Texans are really taking it to the Chiefs.  I was more thinking dang Texas probably should have went for the touchdown there rather then kicking the field goal to go up by 24.  Being up by 28 would have been much better.  I can’t remember a time when a 24 point lead seemed like it was not nearly going to be enough.   Eight minutes later the score was Chiefs 28 Texans 24.  That is how this game went into half time.  The Chiefs would go on to score two more touchdowns. They missed one of the extra point attempts so they were only up 41 – 24 before the Texans finally scored again.

This was one of those games were even though it was a 20 point win by the Chiefs the game was really not that close.  What happened in the first quarter is what made it seem closer.  Patrick Mahomes put on a clinic.  His favorite touchdown target was Travis Kelce.   He caught three touchdowns.  The Texans had no answer for him.  J.J. Watt was almost non existent though the whole game.  At some point he knocked down a pass but pretty sure it was more because Mahomes just threw the ball too low.

This game really seemed like the Chiefs decided to spot the Texans 24 points just to see if they could come back and win.  Of course that it not really how it went.  In the first quarter the Chiefs looked like they had no clue what was going on.  The Texans were the beneficiaries of that.  They did take advantage of the opportunities that the Chiefs gave them.  The problem is that once they had that massive lead they could do nothing with it.

Packers 28 Seahawks 23

The Packers rolled to a 21 – 3 lead at half time.  Like the Texans against the  Chiefs that lead did not seem safe.  To start the second half the Seahawks drove right down the field to get the game to 21 – 10.  Unlike the Texans the Packers were able to answer that with a touchdown of their own.  Going back up by 18 points turned out to be a huge touchdown.  After that the Packers offense forgot that the game was not over.  Aaron Rodgers and the Packers did not do much.  This allowed the Seahawks to score two more touchdowns to get the game to 28 – 23.  The last score of the game came with 9:33 left to go.  A touchdown by Marshawn Lynch.  The two point conversion failed.  For some reason that seemed to wake up the Packers.  On the next drive the Packers were able to take almost 5 minutes off the clock.  Giving the ball back to the Seahawks felt like the Packers had handed over the game.

The Packers defense stood strong and put the Seahawks in a 4th and 11.  Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was  forced to make a decision.  Do you punt and trust your defense or give the offense a chance to pick it up and keep the drive going.  He made what was probably the correct choice by punting and trusting the defense.  Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense had a different idea.  It looked like the decision was going to work.  It did not the Packers were able to pick up two first downs.  One to Davante Adams and the second one that put the game away to Jimmy Graham of all people.  Graham has had a difficult season.  He has dropped several passes that would have been touchdowns and just not had the best season.  In this case he was able to get that final first down to seal the win for the Packers.  It had to feel pretty good for him.  Not just because it pushed his team to the NFC championship game but he also did it against his former team.

Here is what we though about the Saturday Games
