The Colts Putting the Special in Special Teams

The Indianapolis Colts are good, but the New England Patriots are better. There is little hope among students that the Colts will win, but there is always hope right?  Not according to Brian, who says “The Patriots will win by a land slide, they have a lot going for them. Tom Brady knows his team, and Rob Gronkowski knows how to make plays.”  Considering that the Patriots have been winning by annihilating their opponents, Brian’s observations might be accurate. Dorian points out that the Patriots are an above average team, and they have their stuff together. “The Colts have not been doing so well this year”, he says, “I would like them to win, but the Patriots have been doing so much better this season.”  The Colts can’t afford to be average, especially against a team that is known for their ferocity for winning. The Colts and Patriots are known for their classic rivalry, probably not ending anytime soon. However, according to Carsten, the Colts are “indestoppable!” (indestructible + unstoppable, for those of you who don’t get it). Well, that escalated quickly. It seems there is some light after all. Ian Also agrees, “I say the colts are going to win, to say otherwise would be disloyal to the colts” For you Colts fans, which is more important?  To be a diehard fan, or admit the reality of the situation. Ponder that question if the Colts don’t get into the Playoffs.

When people think about the Indianapolis Colts, all the predisposed fans are going to say they’re the best team ever! When people think of the New England Patriots, Deflate Gate usually comes up. Most people are sick of the Deflate Gate, and wish it would go away. It is the reporters like me who keep it alive. Sorry. Oh wait, no I’m not. For those of you who do not know what the deflate gate is, remember way back to January 18th, 2015. It was the AFC Championships for the Super bowl, and the two teams playing were the Colts and Patriots. Patriots beat the colts (which is a huge understatement), the problem? Deflate Gate refers to the Patriots cheating during the AFC championships by deflating the footballs. Brian’s comments by saying Tom Brady should have known. It’s his job to be the Quarterback, he handles Footballs very well. He would have easily known if they were deflated. But Laura’s two cents are completely different. She says “The Patriots never cheated, and it is just another thing to pin on the Patriots. With their bad rap, it’s easy enough to blame something else on them as well.”  As far as the NFL is concerned, they haven’t come to any conclusions if the Patriots cheated at all.

So, who will actually win the game? We will find out soon! Probably before you actually read this, but that is beside the point. What will the Colts have to do to win according to their fans? Drew says that “The Patriots will have to be playing poorly. Without Luck (haha, get it? Luck?), their starting Quarterback, it is going to be very difficult.”  It is always a tense game when the Colts and Patriots play. Who is going to win? You never know. To quote Cameron, “Oh boy, here we go again!”

Well, now that the game has come and gone, it was just as the fans said. The Colts lost again, even with Andrew Luck. Looking at the game stats according to ESPN, (http://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=400791674) the Patriots had fewer running yards and a lower running average than the colts. Brady also had significantly fewer pass attempts than Luck. However, both teams had the same amount of passing yards, the difference is that Brady’s throwing average was three yards higher than Luck.  Basically that means Brady is way more efficient at throwing than Luck is, and it shows, the Patriots won the game!  That, and the fact that the Colts pulled out their “special teams” for one of the plays during the game.  I think that someone will either be fired, or whoever agreed with the play was just a special kind of stupid. The Colts did not show the same kind of determination to win than the Patriots. And with that stupid play? All you can do is find all the humor you can, such as find great catch phrases! “At least I didn’t pull a colts play”, “He’s as special as the colts “special teams””, or even “He has the IQ of the colts “special teams””

The Patriots are way ahead of the Colts in terms of wins and losses, 51 to 29 respectively according to (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/game_query.cgi?tm1=nwe&tm2=clt&yr=all), and the website dates back to October 4th, 1970 when the teams were the Boston Patriots and the Baltimore Colts.  This score does include their recent loss as well.  But sadly, losing to the patriots isn’t their most recent loss. They lost to the New Orleans Saints as well, and it doesn’t look like they are doing too much better this year either.  The Colts are playing the Carolina Panthers, who are looking really good this year; considering they are 6-0 at the moment. Personally, there is always a chance, but probably not very good. Like not very good at all, a very, very slim chance. Okay, I liked, probably not a chance at all. How about certainty they will lose? At least it’s more realistic.  I wonder how many losses the Colts will have in a row. Considering after the Panthers, they are playing the Denver Broncos who also happen to be 6-0 at the moment.  This year is looking bad, and their game play is worse. Sorry, not every team can be like the New England Patriots.
