College Football Playoff 2019 Week Two.  You can find week one here. Not that it really matters since as we know this is a week to week ranking that the previous week may or may not have any bearing on.  It is funny to say that when you know for sure that past history is playing a part in the rankings.  There has been a lot of debate about who the fourth team should be this week.  Should Alabama stay in the top four.  Should they be out?   The committee has spoken and Alabama is out.  Of course we already know that the week two poll really does not mean much of anything.  It is fun to talk about it through.  We can always count on the College Football Playoff committee to provide us with some interesting conversation.  This week it is not as compelling as last week. They have still provided us with some interesting things to ponder.

Here is the College Football Playoff Committee Rankings for week Two

1. LSU (9-0)
2. Ohio State (9-0)
3. Clemson (10-0)
4. Georgia (8-1)
5. Alabama (8-1)
6. Oregon (8-1)
7. Utah (8-1)
8. Minnesota (9-0)
9. Penn State (8-1)
10. Oklahoma (8-2)

It is not surprise that LSU jumped to number on in the poll.  They had the biggest win last weekend taking out Alabama.   That loss for Alabama dropped them to 6th.   The committee decided to move Clemson to 3rd and then Georgia to 4th.  This is all fine with me but I probably would have moved Oregon ahead of Alabama since Alabama’s loss was a home game and the Oregon loss was a neutral site game to Auburn.  Really the losses are about equal.  We will see what happens in a few weeks when Alabama and Auburn play.

The biggest mover in the poll was Minnesota.  After beating a fourth ranked Penn State last weekend Minnesota moved from 17th to 8th.  That is a huge move and much deserved.  I can see every team in the top ten except Oklahoma having a chance to make it in to the top four.  Baylor at 13th would have a chance to move into the top four if they win out.  If you have LSU, Ohio State, Clemson and Baylor as all zero loss teams I just don’t see how you could keep them out then.  Are they really one of the best four teams?  Lets face it that is not really what this is about.  It is about putting yourself in s position to have a chance.  Baylor would clearly have done that if they win out.  With out something really crazy happening I see no way for Oklahoma making it in to the top four this year.
