Mayweather – McGregor the Fight of the Century

Mayweather – McGregor the Fight of the Century!  At least it is if you follow all the hype that it is getting.  If you pay attention to sports at all you will not be able to get away from it.

This fight it being built up and built up and built up.   The money these two fighters will make from this will be crazy.   The number of people that will pay to watch it is crazy.

I am not a fan of either of these sports.  They are very different sports.  I also understand why people like them.  What I don’t understand is why you would take people from two very different sports and have them fight.  I am sure I will be proved wrong by then number of people that will pay to watch it.

And in this Corner

To me this has a very WWE feel to it.  It is not as much a boxing match as it is an exhibition.  An entertainment event.  Yes I get that sports are all entertainment.  None of them are necessary for day to day living.  They are a distraction for people to occupy their minds with.

This boxing match.  At least for me just has a really strange feel to it.   But we know that people will buy it anyway.   Two men with dubious character at best.  Will both make a boat load of money.  I am pretty sure that they will make so much money that they will plan a rematch.

Really can someone please tell me the attraction to buy this “fight”.  Is it that McGregor will get his face beat in with the 8 oz gloves attached to Mayweathers hands?  Is that McGregor could possibly win?  HA if that happens then this was just a set up for round 2.  Really what it is?  Maybe it is that $99 for the pay per view is in the range that people are willing to blow that amount to have a party.  I can think of other things to spend that money on.  You can get the NFL game pass for preseason and watch every game for that same $99.  Which in my mind would be a better event.  Just as meaningless but a better way to spend that $99.

Both of these fighters have been making the rounds to pump up the fight.  Their tactics have been very contrived and over the top.  Mayweather claiming that McGregor has the advantage and should be the favorite to win.  Yes he is trying to build some suspense but really lets face it.  In a boxing match McGregor has no chance against a professional boxer.  If they were doing an MMA match then Mayweather would have no chance.  Really it is pretty simple to figure out.    I have an idea lets have the Patriots play the Warriors in a Basketball game.   I mean really they both won a championship last year.  It will be a great Basketball game.   Really it would not go well for the Patriots but I bet that people would pay to see it.

What are your thoughts?   Are you going to watch this?  If you are why?    I’m just curious.  I will check the next day to see who wins.  Really I will have no choice the winner will be plastered everywhere.
